SoCCS, Sotogrande Cat Care Society
A colony of street cats among bushes and palm trees

Found a cat?

Most cats you see outdoors in Sotogrande already have a home or a colony. Here’s how to tell, and who can help.

Hurt or sick

Take the cat to a vet straight away. Don’t wait for a reply from us: we answer by email, and an injured cat needs help now.

Friendly and seems lost

A friendly, well-kept cat is often someone’s pet that has strayed from home. A vet can check it for a microchip so it can get back to its owner.

An ear tip or notch

A cat with the tip of one ear cut straight across, or a small notch in its edge, has been neutered and belongs to a managed colony. Please leave it where it is: volunteers feed it every day and keep an eye on its health.

Kittens on their own

Their mother is usually close by, out looking for food. Watch from a distance for a few hours before you do anything. If they’re in danger, cold or clearly weak, take them to a vet.

Not neutered, near a colony

If you see a cat without an ear tip or notch at a colony in Sotogrande or Torreguadiaro, tell us where. Unneutered cats are the ones we need to trap.

SoCCS is not a rescue organisation or a shelter, so we can’t take cats in. For rescue and rehoming, the charities on our associates page do that work every day.

Help the colonies

Every neutering and every meal is paid for by donations. Give once or every month, or tell us about a cat that needs neutering.
