Privacy Notice

Who is responsible for your data

Asociación Sotogrande Cat Care Society (SoCCS), NIF G72340862, registered in the Registro de Asociaciones de Andalucía nº 11-1-13252, is the controller of the personal data processed through this website, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD). You can reach us at contact@soccs.charity.

What we collect and why

We only receive personal data when you send it to us:

  • Contact form and email. Your name, email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, and your message. We use them to reply to you and to follow up on anything you tell us about, such as a colony. The legal basis is your request.
  • Volunteer form. The same details, plus the jobs you ticked and how much time you can give. We use them to arrange volunteering with you. The legal basis is your request, and then the steps needed to organise your volunteering.
  • Donations. If you give through Donorbox or Teaming, they process your payment under their own privacy notices and pass us your name, email address and the amount, so we can record and thank you for your gift. If you give by bank transfer, our bank shows us your name and the amount. The legal bases are our legal and accounting obligations and our legitimate interest in thanking supporters.

This website has no user accounts and does not store your form messages: the form sends them to our inbox by email.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiry emails and form messages: for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up. We delete them sooner if you ask.
  • Volunteer details: while you volunteer with us, and afterwards only for as long as we need them to organise volunteering. We delete them sooner if you ask.
  • Donation records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Copies of your message that we forward to volunteers on Facebook Messenger can stay in their chats until they delete them. If you ask us to delete your data, we ask them to delete those copies too.
  • Your cookie choice: 6 months (see the Cookie Notice).

Who sees it

We never sell your data or share it for marketing. Only the volunteers who deal with your message see it, together with the providers that make this website and our messages work:

  • Cloudflare hosts this website, delivers form messages to our inbox and runs Cloudflare Turnstile, the check that keeps spam out of our forms. To do this it processes technical details of your browser and connection, such as your IP address, and does not use them for advertising.
  • Donorbox provides the donation form on our Donate page, and Teaming, Amazon and our bank handle the other ways to give, each under its own privacy notice.
  • Meta runs Facebook Messenger, which we use to forward your message to the volunteer who can deal with it. Meta processes it under its own privacy policy.
  • Google measures visits through Google Analytics, only on soccs.charity and only if you accept analytics cookies. Analytics data is held in our Google Analytics account and never used for advertising.

Transfers outside Europe

Cloudflare, Google and Meta are based in the United States, or work with companies there. Where your data reaches them, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which all three are certified, or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Children

This website is not aimed at children under 14, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.

Your rights

  • You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to move it, or to limit or object to how we use it, by emailing contact@soccs.charity.
  • Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
  • If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, at www.aepd.es.

Changes to this notice

We’ll update this notice whenever the way we handle personal data changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
